I have had a tC, and a cobalt SS and been on their forums and what we do is all sort of similar, but as you move up through the price range of cars the things they do to their cars differ, lower on the price range you do more wild things that are easily noticed and may be looked at by us as "rice" and then as you get into the Z's price range things are more subtle and flow better with the car without getting too wild. And that is why I think things will really remain quite similar but different styles and how we "should" have our wheels may change but really since all of car modifying is up to the owner because of the variety of parts out there it really shouldn't change a whole lot. It is just that there will probably be many more options out there because car company's are throwing options out there and the market for modifying and customizing cars is only going to grow.

my opinion of what will die out eventually over a period of time (10 years or more):

1. crazy high temp HID color like 10000k and 12000k and up, MAYBE 8000k.

2. Black rims with chrome lip

3. Carbon fiber kits and carbon fiber hoods

4. LOW low profile tires (black rubber bands)

5. paint matched interior

Black wheels will eventually die out just like white wheels did in 2001. Something I would enjoy seeing die out are light "bulbs." LEDs and OLED will take over for sure.

As sad as it sounds... our lazy habits always make their way into our standard life style. I wouldn't be suprised if internet grammar and acronyms become widely accepted into everyday language eventually. As a matter of fact, speaking the phrase "LOL" is already pretty common among kids these days.

Exterior mods that were done with performance in mind will never go out of style. It's also a plus if it is a known JDM brand.

Take for instance... C-West's 180sx.

Theres the famous duct hole in the headlight... wouldn't call that out of style. The large "hammerhead" c-west wing is associated with this car, and silvia conneseurs that know their stuff can appreciate it. And the kit has aged pretty well.

If you do your exterior mods with performance in mind (no matter how minimal the gain... if you can justify it)... it'll be called RETRO or OLDSCHOOL or CLASSIC, not OUT OF STYLE. Look at rims like the TE-37 (performance rim)... that'll never go out of style.

The Accord's mods is just plain ridiculous. Holes in places just for a design statement... But on 2nd look, if he just took off the riveted Nascar windows and put some spacers, it'll pass.

Here's the Nismo festival in 2005 with some classic cars. Would you call the older car's styling out of style or just classic?

I think Carbon fiber will become more accepted. Companies are including it exposed on cars now. (new BMW M3 and M6)

I think large lip spoilers will be out (a la Stillen)

I think A-pillar gauge pods will also go the way of the buffalo.
