Xenon bulbs problem!!!
I went to the dealer yesterday to change my rigth headligth because have some humidity inside, when the technichan remove the headligth there was a burned cable inside, it was the cable of the low beam bulb. I chance all bulbs to the stock ones just in case. My car is the Base model, so I put 80 Watts Xenon look bulbs in the high and low beam, the stock ones are 55 watts. did anyone think that the watts was the issue here?
could be 1 of 2 things or more (depending on how the wire was "burned"):
1) the wire is not a heavy enough gauge for the increased wattage. this would melt the sheathing.
or
2) more watts equals more heat dissapation. you put 50% more wattage in... i am sure there was way more heat present, but normally this melts relfector housings... not the wires.
or it could be completely unrelated...
i am happy with the 35W HIDs

check this out...
the altima come hid and non-hid (just liek the z)
to put hids in the non-hid altima, costs $450, and is actual genuine replacement nissan parts.
i dont know if people have looked into swapping the lights on the z... but maybe the ones on the altima would work.
looking in the shop manual, all the wiring is the same up until the headlights themselves... there the colors of the wires are the same, but different plugs... if you could compare with an hid car, you could actually find out what you need...
i agree with victor... if you are going to run really hot bulbs, change the wire out for something thicker (or possibly also add a relay in, if its not there...)

Put real HID's in, the stock 350z HID is only 35 watts.....I think thats what most HID's are.

Those companies mentioned above may be good, but not worth it. The stuff they sell on ebay looks exactly the same and you can pick up a conversion kit for $350. Mine cost $425 from ebay but that was a while ago. I reccomend it.
dont go through www.misterjung.com my roommate just got ripped off by him. he paid his money about a month and a half ago, no response from misterjung, no product, no refund and misterjung wont answer his phone or e-mails.

is where you can get true hid's as i understand it each bulb has its own ballast. Only fifty bucks a set. Stay away from those stupid wannabes, they all build up heat and melt wiring harnesses, espeially those BLUE tipped heat holders.
