Default help with carbon fiber

Hey guys, its not about my z. but i have a carbon fiber exhaust can for my bike. i was messin around with a it today; long story short, a section of the clear coat/resin? came off the carbon fiber. Now that section is raw carbon fiber. what do you guys think i should do? should i just get a can of clear coat and spray that section? Will the back pressure push thru carbon fiber? it feels kinda soft. help me out guys thanks!

See if u can pick up a small quantity of clear Gel Coat and prep the surface or if the Can is not subjected to Hi heat, try some Clear epoxy---This is mainly for protecting the damaged area, not a top notch cosmetic fix. Surface prep is discussed in the above Link

clear will not fall into the cf. u need to use epoxy resin to fill the area, then sand til it is smooth. then u can clear it with clearcoat.

it may be but fibergalss is different. fiberglass will get painted so the epoxy doesnt have to be clear. i have seen some clear epoxy resins that actually look yellowish when u use it on cf. i have used different kinds and the best that i have used is called System Three. u can give the stuff at autozone atry buit try it on something else to see how clear it actually is when it sets up. then go ahead and use it on the cf.
