Paint swirls, chips, scratches by just rubbing against cardboard boxes in a narrow garage. All this I have accepted and play with stuff to repair. But today I noticed an area adjacent to the front wheel well that is actually peeling. any suggestions?

Agreed... the paint chipped and cracked when the body shop was rolling the fenders. They say it's the first time it has ever happened to them. :-( At least they rolled enough to stop my 285s from rubbing.

Whew~! After washing my car, for the first time, I noticed all kinds of swirls, fine scratches, and chips! I was begining to think that I was using the wrong kinds of soap, rags, etc. I even spent a small fortune on microfiber towels, swirl/scratch removers, an orbital buffer, and scratch "hiding" waxes. And I've only had the car for 3 months and it has less than 1K miles on it...

It's gotten to the point that I'm afraid to touch the car!

Agree with all that has been said. My SB bumper has small chips and swirls throughout. My guess is the clearcoat is gone or nearly gone. A good hard waxing seems to take most of the scratches out but you can't wax every time you wash. This is my 3rd black car and I have never seen such weak paint. Still proud of the Z but I doubt I will get another black one. I need something that can hide the cheaper quality of paint.

yep, this is my second Z and they both have a lot of rock chips. Nissan has been known for a number to have to bad quality paint. You can't just wash it every week.

very impressive work... I got some touch up paint but have had poor results so I keep on putting more zaino on the rest. A few months ago, while having an oil change by my dealer the salesman who sold me my 2005 Redline asked me how everything was going and I proceded to complain about how one chip in a few hours was developing multiple satellite chips like metatstatic tumors. He said he was sorry but "The only thing you may want to do is put the leather bra" and showed me a 2003 z with chips all over the hood that he was trying to sell.
My point is they did not even have the sense to spruce up the car to try to sell it.. they just don't care.

You really got 20 layers of Zaino on your RL? LOL!

But yeah, not much to do. Leather bras are so...1980's! Not to mention they are ugly and may scratch the paint more just by taking them on and off. I used to use a leather bra from my old Z32, on long drives. But it seemed that the bungees [that hold the bra on] rub more on the paint and cause more scratches than anything else...

I've gottne to the point where I want to take some wood lacquer or something and spray my car with it!

Agree with everything here as well. My 06 DB has about 10K miles on it in 7 months, and the hood and front bumper are ridiculous! I thought it was because of all the mosquito's and love bugs in Florida, but bugs dont chip your paint! I was thinking about putting a clear bra on it. Regardless its very disappointing...

I've added two more layers of Z5 (in addition to Z6 and Z8 for the finale) over the weekend. But I am really considering a clear bra with my next Z. Some people play golf, I'm addicted to Zaino.

Bumping an old thread to vent my frustrations with my 4000 mile car. About a dozen rock chips in the front bump/hood and one lone chip about the driver side rear wheel well.

Just finished a 1500 mile road trip and even with a nose mask on still got 5-6 new chips in the front of the hood. I'm going to get some painters tape and tape the hood up on the way back, then I'm going to talk with the dealership about this crap.
