You don't want to do it at home, get it done professionally. Professional tints not that much. If you don't know how to do it, it was cause you time + agony = $ down the drain. I would recommend 3M or Llumar tints which most professionals use. A Professional tint will run you about $100 - $200 at most. If you can afford a Z, then I sure you can afford that. Hope this helps.

$600 for 3 cars aren't bad, plus you get warrenty. My personal opinion, I think professional install is worth it. Professional install comes out good and makes you feel good, but it's up to you. Good luck!!

I think it would be extremely hard to get the cut to line up perfectly with the window.

Llumar is a quality choice although I don't know how easy it is to find. Most of the tint rolls at auto parts stores are low quality and will only last a few years before fading into a purple color.

Madico: www.madico.com
Solargard: www.solargard.com

Madico has different grades: dye, semi-metallic (onyx), full metallic (cool chrome)

Solargard also has different grades but not sure what they are.

I would not tint at home. I have tried and it may Kill you! You have to know all the tricks to make a perfect cut. If you're off a hair it will show. I had Solarguard or Sureguard at 5% done on my sides and it NICE..left the 20% on the back for safety. Anyway, get it done by someone who knows the tricks or you will be very upset my .02

One more advise, go with everything else but dye. There's a thread in this forum, forgot where, but the guy gave a pretty good explaination on not to use dye, they turn purple and bubble over time.

Well, my summer job will be working in a tint store, and learn from them, and I'll be doing it on my own car... hopefully it's not that hard...

Default Tint

I went to my local Alta Mere shop, looking for the lightest, highest heat rejection I could get. The manager steered me to a Securiguard semi-metallic that is 68% heat rejecting and smallest reflectivity on the market, according to him. $179+tax for all but the front.

He also showed me a new product from Europe that is almost no tint at all, but is much higher in heat rejection than anything in the US right now. $400+tax is more than I wish to spend.

Anyone familar with the first tint? Is it really not like putting metal on the windows? I am not interested in anything resembling a mirror metallic tint, I hate them and they may be illegal as well. The price is right, but Its been awhile since I tinted my windows on a car and I'm looking for info. Thanks

Try searching the web for "auto tinting", lots of facts.

I prefer Johnson's. I've had just about everything and that's my favorite!
