Default Heated Seats?

Well I took the plunge and purchased a set of OEM heated/power/Leather seats.

I have my mechanic installing them for me and the power part is simple.

So my question is and I have searched back like 4 years......

Has anyone been able to wiring the heaters to work and if so how?

Thanks
Cliff

I'm surprised the harness isn't already installed in the non-leather/heated seat version Zs - standardization trick to help reduce costs.

Default Track Model

Track models with Side Airbags I believe have the harness for power but non side airbag Track models do not. I agree stupid on nissans part. Standardization would seem the best route, but if the car didnt need the rest of the harness they didnt install one. I guess it was all about weight.

Any chance you could wire the seats up to the battery (ie, like an amplifier) using the stock harnesses or custom wiring?

Default diagram

the wiring diagram talks about the need for a special relay which is found in the stock harness . I have the heat switches from another purchase but they dont contain the relay, or at least I dont think that they do. they look like simple plugs with no other functionality. I am not sure if direct to the battery would be safe.

My concern is that when on the seats will have continous draw of power and that might overload something if no careful.

My hope is that someome has already done it but not posted it on the site yet.

I can hope..

you could hook up an aftermarket harness if the car absolutely doesn't have the harness. Of course you would have to see if the wiring on the Z harness matches up with the aftermarket harness, but it should be similar i would think.

http://www.heaterseats.com check the installation pdf file

The reason this interests me is that i want to put in some racing seats, but want to remove the heating element and add them to some bride seats. Sounds retarded i know, but i like those heated seats on cold nights.

Wouldn't it be great if a wrecking yard nearby had a car with the harness already in it. You could get the harness and see how it was hooked up.
I guess 'great' isn't the right word for the owner that lost the Z.
