I am interested in doing this too but I am worried about water getting in when it rains or in a car wash! Do you think there could be any problems with this?

Can you post the measurements of the slate, width and height when you get the chance?

Thanks

I used black high temp silicon RTV sealant. I chose this as it grips really well and is a bit like rubber so it has a very little bit of give. I thought this was best to fight vibration.

First I would not recommend running this hood through a car wash especially if it has brushes. I can just see one of the brushes catching a vent and warping it. As far as water getting in is concerend, I didn't think it was a good idea so I made the blockoff plates for rainy days.

The vents are 9 5/8 long and 1 9/16 wide. The length measurment is for the bottom most vent towards the bumper. Again the vents get slightly smaller in length as they move towards the rear of the hood. This yields the outer edges of the vents lying in a straight line.
