Default My impressions after installing my "nismo" style spoiler purchased from Bavaria

Well I was one of those that got carried away by the opportunity of getting the Nismo look
at a lower price I just couldn;t bring myself to paying 750 bucks for a spoiler. I bought in
on that group buy a couple of months ago and bought the deal including painting as I
didn't want to hastle with getting it painted and 100 bucks sounded like a good
deal. Well I finally put it on a week ago and have been living with it so now I can give
my impressions:

The good:
Low price
Paint matched very good
Paint job was good

The bad
Although paint job was good prep work wasn't, too many imperfections obvious
at close range.
The left post or pedestal on the base didn't line up with the wing properly and there
were slight gaps between the posts and wing portion, so I put some dark weather
strips and it looks OK.
It was tough getting it to lay flat and I think I may have cracked one corner.

Overall it looks good at a distance but when you are at a gathering or show you
want to keep people at least 5 feet away so they don't see the imperfections.

I would not buy this wing again if given the chance, at times I wish I had sent it back,
at this point I don't think I would buy any replica wings at all, this one is going to bug me
until I replace it, I think I will wait until Nismo comes here and see if is any cheaper I will
probably end up paying more than if I had bought the original to begin with, my advise
save up the money and buy the real thing specially after seeing personally how nice
and perfect dwnshift's wing fit. No close up pics I just can't bring myself to take any but
here goes one from afar, the only one so far that the wing shows up in.

I see...I was little bit inclined to get a replica one but I think I'd rather get balsalrini wings or some others or I'll just wait a bit more until some other decent wings come out.
By the way, I really like the Street Scene grill on your car.. They look best on DB I guess.. I wonder how it looks on my Super Black? (Well, I put Chrome moldings on my grill and I think it's pretty much enough but curiousity is curiousity )

Yes stay away from the replicas, too inconsistent, you might get a good one or you might not, not enough quality checks I think.

Angry Sorry to hear that, WestPak!!

I was in the GP as well, I sent the money and everything, but the delayed shipments pissed me off, so I backed out. Props to Bavaria for refunding promptly.

I guess I am glad I did backout. I agree with you! I'll wait till Nismo comes out and will probably buy the real one then!

Still waiting to hear from you about the shipping on the straight and Y-pipe!!

Default Nismo style spoiler

I also have a Bavaria spoiler (no hardware or instructons.) I have 4 quarter size holes in the bottom fiberglass base and 3 bold heads on left and 3 on right side.

Can you suggest where I start next?

I agree with you that I will probably also eventually buy a Nismo spoiler but the prices will have to come down first.

I did install the front clip from Bavaria and it fit pretty well. The side skirts were not even close and I took them off and gave up.

Thanks in advance for any help you may provide me.

What you use are where the six bolt heads are, those are in some threaded inserts, the 4 large holes are for nothing I think they were probably there for the mold.

Take out the 6 bolts and since you do not get a template to install it you will have to make one, I used this huge piece of paper that came as a cover sheet for some large board used for presentations. I laid it on the bottom of the spoile and located one hole and then punched the other holes through, make sure the sheet of paper is laying flat so you get the right locations.

Next if you have a stock spoiler, which I did, it makes it easier as you already have a location for the two rear holes, if not you will have to drill one first, if you take off the plastic cover on the inside of the hatch you will see a quarter size hole towards the back on both sides pick one and pilot drill a hole for location. Now you have your first hole use your template using this first hole and lay it out on the hatch to locate the other rear hole and make sure it is straight on along the back and then you can locate the other holes.

The rear holes and the 2 forward holes are easier as you only have to drill through the outer layer of metal but the two other holes you have to drill through an inner layer of metal as well. All holes should be drill with a pilot hole and then with the biger diameter cutter (can't remember name) that uses the smaller hole as a guide. If you have more questions email me at gusm@sfzcc.com
