Default Possible undercarriage damage?

Last night I was coming home and a truck in front of me dropped a small piece of metal (some kind of bracket or something) I couldn't change lanes in time and I went over the piece of metal at about 25mph. I heard a scraping noise and pulled over as soon as I had a chance. I checked the and the plastic protector on the bottom looked slighty damaged. I see no fluid leaking or anything like that, but if anyone knows what I need to look for, your help would be greatly appreciated. I will take some pics when I get off work and post them, but I have been going back to the parking lot every hour to make sure there was no other damage. I had a friend who works on cars sometimes and he said that the piece of metal made a small dent in my exhaust and the the obvious damage to the plastic. I am hoping everything will be ok. Thanks again for any of the info you guys can provide.

I suggest getting the car up in the air on a lift or decent jacks. You can't see much just looking under it. It'll give you piece of mind.
