Default hood struts, installed w/ pix

This is actually the Tein hood strut kit, but modified. I painted them, the green was just ugly. And i did not use the lower mounts because the ones included in the kit would not let the hood shut w/o major cutting of the plastic covers.

So i searched and searched online and found an online store that has 10mm bolts w/ the pivot ball at the end. I replaced the lower mounts with these and all i had to do was just cut the small circle around the studs.

You don't need anything aside from the Tein kit to do this install.

Oh i lied, its really a 6mm ball stud.

Stupidly, i bought the whole ball joint, without first searching for just the ball stud.

What i should have done was just buy the stud alone.

Thanks, I didn't measure but i'm guesstimating it lifts maybe (at most) an two or three inches less than stock. But its just fine b/c i'm short.

thanks. i was planning on painting them pearl white to match the car but i figured it would draw attention away from the rest of engine bay. that and my crawford plenum is powdercoated (the match now). But most of all i already had the black w/ metalic flakes n primer already in the basement... laziness overcomes all.

I'll probably get bored one afternoon and decide to repaint them pearl white to match my Z.

You just use what comes with the Tein kit. Nothing else needed. No welding needed.

Aaaaaah i see. I was just over-thinking. You meant you can just install the kit with the Tein kit alone. I was talking about the problem with the Tein kit and the lower mounts.

To clarify, I am saying that you can install the Tein kit exactly the way you have installed it without any additional parts.

Simple. Just remove the screw on the fender and replace with the ball screw that comes with the kit.

What did they give you to attach the bottom of the strut to the engine bay?

here's the lower mounts that came with my kit.

The problem is that these pieces turns the struts inward to an angle that hits the plastic covers.
