Default Heat Shield installed to Veilside Hood (*PICS*)

As you guys know, the hood from Veilside pretty much sucked and needed quite a bit of prep and work. There actually is MORE fiberglass on the hood then it originally cam with! LOL! My bodyshop, Car Medics was worried about the heat/cool-down eventually taking it's toll on the hood so they recommended gettting a heat shield. WHAT A HUGE DIFFERENCE in the temperature of the hood. Anyways, might be a good idea with someone with an aftermarket hood worried about paint cracking, etc...

The heat shield is SUPER THIN. It's not the bulky material you may see @ pep boys. This is the one I purchased:

Very Nice. I could do without the Z logo but very nice either way.

^ LOL My bodyshop got a bit creative, I cracked up when I saw it. I don't really care since it's under the hood.

Default hood Heat Shield vs Paint & warp Issues

Doing some prep work on my C-West / octane motors Veilside3 Hood now, Was Also wondering about the heat from the sun and engine area ,The prep work on the thin hood was nasty, most local body shops didn't want to even Touch it .. how bad was yours to prep ? thank's in advance for the info ..

Prep was RIDICULOUS, maybe 6 hours or so. I practically had to beg my bodyshop to do it. Veilside USA is CRAP as far as I'm concerned. I'm not too concerned about the heat from the sun, but rather from the engine.

Nice work! I've told people since day one that the actual quality of my veilside hood was absolute CRAP. It still doesn't fit perfectly as I had a body shop that wasn't as committed to getting it right as yours. My hood actually came in warped, and it wouldn't clear the support structure on the chassis in the engine bay. We actually had to trim off some of the support and rebuild the hood frame.

I don't have a heat shield on mine, and I'm running a turbonetics setup which is pretty hot, but haven't had issues with cracking paint. I'm also running a lot of header wrap and a full turbo blanket. So far so good!

Yours turned out looking great. Good job on salvaging a Veilside product.
