The 03-05 don't have true projectors. The low and high beam uses that reflector to disperse the light. If that reflector is painted most of the light output is lost.

The 06s have true projectors that is why you can paint everything.

In that case the 06 headlights look hot. I'm not feeling the chrome sandwich headlights on the 04. I have an 04 and wanted to do this but cant see leaving the middle chrome.

When painting the headlights on the base model z, how much of the reflective silver do we need to keep for our lights?

thats a good question, i dont think anyones ever asked that.....though ive never seen anyone have anything less then whats already shown here. its either its all black or the amount of chrome left in the pics on this thread.

I agree...

That's got to be a "Semi-flat" or "Satin".
"Flat black" looks almost like the surface of a matchbox, the strip where you light up a match.

Mr Zipps, do you have any pics of 06-07 headlights that have been painted PPW to color match the car??

i really think it would look good, kinda like a ferarri-esque look..those come painted to match body color from factory. most every PPW does BLACK headlights, but i dont want the same as everyone else. not that it doesnt look good, just look at ghost_shift's car, but for me the black/white contrast is too much.

Very nice..... This is probably gonna be one of the last things to do for me, but I haven't seen a PPW with those. Now I have an idea and look forward to this for my car.... Good job on the car.
