My bumper got here today and it has a rather large depressed, sunken area where the Nissan Hamburger would be.... and anyone else seen this?

I don't know enough about body work to know if its too much to work around and not be seen or not..... is this something to worry about? I know they can probably fill it and build it up and make it all look uniform, but is that wise on urethane that is going to have a tendancy to flex more?

I would think paint and clearing will make it more noticable...is it enough to warrant returning? I've tried to look at other photos of installed aerosync to see if maybe this was common, but I think I would have seen mention of it by now.

you need to get another one definately. Mine took no type of extra fitting or work to get painted.I fit it myself and fit perferctly.

Try pressing that hump back out. If it sinks sinks right backin, then get another one.

You're the only one. Mine came looking fine.

 

You can also try sitting it in the sun for a day or so before trying to return it to see if the indentation will go away.

See....so much so that I can't even spell retarded. That's it....I'm done. i'm too frustrated atm anyway. I'm going to go play with my $369 Rebel XT KIT... that will make me feel better. feel better just saying it.

def not fixable sent it back

 

I had some plaster, decorative blocks that I stacked up to be just slightly higher than the lowest part of the indention and then leaned the bumper over that so a portion of the bumpers own weight is helping to push the indention back flat. It's not much, but I figure steady presure combined with the heat might do it. I left it in the heat over night (we have plenty in Tx) and took a quick glance out the window this am and it looked a lot better, but I was still sleepy so who knows. I'll let ya'll know how it goes after it gets through the mid day. I'm going to try and go by and see if I need to make adjustments to the stand. I might be ok on this one afterall. Pics to follow if it resolves the issues.

 

Swung by at lunch and bumper is looking much better, only slight indentation is visable and the area is much smaller. It's looks slight enough that, when primered, you wouldn't even see it. Thanks for the advise. Hopefully this thread can benefit someone else should they see something similar.


I'll grab a few pics after it sits through the day and post for another opinion. I think I'm clear though.

agreed.... when I was young and obviously stupid I was running 120+ on the highway in one of my TT 300's with a buddy in his SS and he moved from the middle lane into my fast lane to give room to a lone car entering the slow lane. It was late and hardly anyone was out but as we cleared the merging car I was expecting my friend to move back to his lane but before he could he mistook an abandoned, broke-down car for a cop and he hit the brakes the brakes. !@#$ We made contact at 100+ and we where both very lucky, my stillen urethane front bumper took the hit flawlessly and I only had to get a repaint to fix the splintered paint. I swore then I would always purchase and reccomend urethane pieces over the brittle counterparts. It definatly takes a beating.

 

I have the same bumper. It was involved in 3 accidents and it's still in one piece. It's not even dented or scratched. God bless polyurethane.
