Default MT shift **** on AT?

Is it possible to fit a manual shift **** on a automatic? I really love that Nismo **** and I've been googling and used the search function on this site, but no dice. I'm not interested in the boot as I've seen there's already a thread on that. I really hate the look of the Momo and the razo one. And no I don't want a Manual, I just love the look Thankx in advance everyone..

nope, there's no way you can fit a manual **** on an automatic, remember, you have to be able to push on a button to release the **** to be able to change into different gears (P, R, N, D), and the manual's don't have that. you can either go with momo or razo, or stay with stock. i prefer the momo, looks nice.

I hate people like your mom who decided to keep you after finding out that she was pregnant. You are not helpful, so just die. I love my AT

You're a douchebag man.

As for being able to use a manual **** on a AT shifter, the answer isn't exactly no. So, well most luxury cars ( ie. lexus, acuras, audis) have shifters without that button on the side. Rather, they use a suppression system where you simply have to apply pressure downwards to shift it. So you can try to fabricate a similar thing. But here's teh catch. Those cars usually havie it where you have to move your shifter side to side, in case you accidently hold down your ****. Our's is straight down, Would be kinda funny if you accidently shifted upwards to R when on the highways.

I'm in teh process of trying to do this since I love the look of the Nismo Titanium. But it's not fun being a guinnea pig, and you're cutting and welding your baby >.<

Very well explained thanks, I just might be that guinnea pig when I get some time..

And thanks for backing me up fellow AT owners

That would be really, really stupid. That would be a horrible sight seeing a labeled 6MT **** on an automatic...just plain stupid/ugly/wrong.

I have an AT btw.

I drive automatic, just wisked it was manual. I could care less what others drive in transmission, its one's own preference.

I would think it's more dangerous than funny . I would never sacrifice safety for aesthetics, but to each his own.

I understand the frustration of the OP. I mean, I owned a base rsx before the G and it was auto and the shifter looked more along the lines of what a manual shifter would like like w/ no buttton. Infiniti just doesn't do that.

It is rumored that that the 08 g35 coupes might have an auto tranny option w/ paddleshifts, but until that day comes, I'm sticking w/ my 6m/t.

Guys, stop feeding the troll. This guy (or girl) could be sitting back getting a kick out of this... Just let it go... Breathe, whoo saw and all that...
If a person has to define their superiority by the type of transmission their car has, they have OTHER issues that are at work...

Back to the topic...

During my failed attempt at installing a shift boot on my 5AT took out of the "P R N D" cover and had just the "stick" left...

In fact, I'm going to do it again and post some pics...

BRB

Ok, here are the photos in succession, took me only a few moments to do this...

I'm sure we all know how to get to this point... Remove silver trim ring, through the car into gear, remove cover and a/c controls...

There are a few tension clips around the four corner of the shift indicator. Simply pull them to loosen them and lift up...

Viola, the shift indicator is up and off

Set it to the side....

Also remove the long gray "sectional" plastic place...

Here's where I stopped and put everything back together. I assume that the 3 screws could be removed and the rest of the pieces can be lifted up and out to make room for the manual shifter...

Maybe it's deep enough for the manual shifter to fit... If I had the manual insert, I'd love to test fit it. I'll leave this to some other brave soul..
