Default Help! Version Select on an intercooled Z

I searched first and couldn't find any specific write-ups where a Version Select full bumper kit had been installed on a turbo-charged Z with a front-mount intercooler.

Would somebody who's done this please pipe up? Is there a lot of trimming on the backside of the Version Select front bumper? Will it clearance the eyelet for the tow-hook in the stock bumper support? How did everything line up? On a scale of 1-10, how's it fit?

Thanks,
Bruce

i have the Vertex front bumper, and it covers teh eyelet for the tow hook, so I would assume the Version Select one would do the same. Likewise, i remeber seeing a blue z with a replicia vertex kit floating around with an FMIC, and there was definite trimming to make things fit.

Thanks Noodleman. So you didn't cut the threaded section off the bumper support or flip it so that section is on top?

I wonder how much clearance most body shops are leaving between the I/C and the back edges of the bumper? I thought I'd leave as much material as possible, to direct all the flow through the I/C and radiator. Right now, when I test-fitted it, there's only 3/8" spacing. Anybody else?

You'll definitely need to cut. Exactly how much, not sure but here are some pics from the Vertex Gallery for reference. Looks like it will depend on the type/size FMIC you get. BTW...you might want to check with Vantage since I know he had a FMIC. His is the red like one like yours

As always, thanks for your help. I was re-reading all 18 pages of your Vertex thread and looking at pictures when you posted:-) I know Vantage sold his bodykit recently. Tragic! That was my favorite redline(next to my own). I wonder if he's selling the car or just changing bodykits? I'll PM him and see if he responds....
