Default 06+ headlights cracking?

after doing lots of searching and reading, stress cracks on the headlights have now become a concern to me. it seems as though many of these cases are on early production z's (with or without overlays). i was wondering if this is still a problem on the more recent production z's. I figure nissan would have done something about this problem. i have an 07 ppw with HID and would really like yellow headlights! The only thing stopping me from taking that step is the fear that my headlights will crack. Im sure that the cracking is likely not from the overlays, it just seems to speed up the process from what i have read. please point me in the right direction and share your knowlege.

from what i know (it happened to me) overlays do alot of the stress cracks. if you get them, the only way around it is byuing new headlights.

if thats the case, just do what i did, and order a cheap set off of ebay, and reuse only the plastic cover, not the housing. and makesure you reseal it nicely

So would that mean it is still a problem that nissan has not addressed for the 06+. because it doesnt seem to always be a result from the overlays. i noticed that people even without overlays end up with cracks. that to me would mean that its a manufacture issue also

What are you talking about? There is no evidence of this being any "problem" whatsoever for '06+ Zs with untouched headlights. Now if you place those distasteful plastic overlays on them, then you get what you deserve.

True, there are people with the stress cracks without any type of headlight film on them. From what I've read over the years its seems to me the Lexan Nissan uses to make the headlight casings is causing the problem. Now, I've read somewhere that the problem still exists in 06 lamps.
