Just got my RedlineGoods leather shift boot! This thing is nice! The smell of the leather is sweet.
For anyone who has installed a shift boot:
The online directions might be for other year Z's, because they describe asymmetric tabs underneath the ring that holds the boot in. I have an '07 and the rings are totally symmetric.
But the boot is not symmetric. It is shorter on one side (same as the stock boot). But I already took off the stock boot and didn't notice the difference!!
So my question is, should the short side be towards the front or the rear? I know it sounds complicated and it's hard for me to describe, but if anyone has done this, I'm sure you know what I mean. See the picture - the shorter side is to the front of the car, hence the lean - which is how I think it's suppposed to be, but can anyone confirm this before I put the shift **** back on and everything?
Thanks!
