Actually it could possible reduce some of the drag caused by switching from a stock style muffler to something with cans or mufflers that are along the length of the car. The stock muffler is designed to keep air out from inside the bumper to reduce drag. When you eliminate the stock muffler with something that is not the same style there is a chance you increas your drag because the rear bumper center section now becomes a scope.

Just a thought.

I think the mod looks good to me - I could care less what others think.

Besides - couldn't the same be said with the modding of 06 bi-xenons to have a halo ring/angel eyes (ccfl or whatever?). it definitly looks nice - but is there another purpose besides looks that it serves that i am unaware of?

just a thought.

Hmmm.... Well... I'm doing this mod over the weekend and will post pics. I have an HKS dual. This is the pic that convinced me it would look good with a dual exhaust... Plus I saw this mod in person on AJ's car when I was at Performance Factory, and thought it looked good even with his open dumps...

I don't see the rice with this style of dual exhaust.... Maybe it's just me though...

IMO this mod only looks decent with a true dual, or the HKS dual

definitely curious to see this mod with the HKS dual. This could give me something to do even though I can't drive the car for a while.

Been thinking... With the way an HKS hangs underneath the car, this mod would probably only look classy for an HKS if the cans are blacked out. Otherwise there will be way too much chrome visible (since HKS has the extra cans on top).

I do appreciate the opinions, that's what this forum is about. I know it's a mixed bag of opinions on the look with the stock-style exhausts, and even with the true duals.

There is a benefit as said earlier in this thread of cutting down on the drag, the center section could act like a parachute. I don't track my car, nor do I feel I drive fast enough to feel the effects of drag. My motivation for doing this as stated in my first post was for a FREE fix to a torn plastic tab that holds the center section. this torn tab was allowing the center section to flap at higher speeds, which I think looked more "rice" or "ghetto" or whatever word you want to use. I also think this mod is more suited to single exit or true duals, but I took a chance and I don't think it looks bad at all.

I'm not mad, everyone has opinions. I just wasn't sure why you thought it was rice. You pointed it out to me I think. All is good with the world

It is a sad state of affairs indeed.
