The blinking sound comes from a pizzo siren located in the main gauge cluster. Its the same siren that makes the bing sound. I'm not too sure why your wouldn't be working.

Bump from the dead but my 2003 w/63kmi just started doing this yesterday. Anyone know if it's an easy fix? blinker lights and the interior lit indicators all work fine, just no "click...click....click..." sound.

humm....the click noise gone would first make me think the pizzo siren went out and simply needs to be replaced, but check fuses before you attempt that........are you sure there are no other lights, gauges, etc, not working that may indicate fuses???

that's odd. i've never heard of anyone's pizzo siren malfunctioning before. this could be a pain to replace.

Update: next time I turned the car on, the problem fixed itself. I read another thread of a guy who had the same problem and same solution. Very strange, but then again it's a 7 year old car.

Perhaps you should check the blinker fluid...
