Eventually I think I am going to have my antenna base shaved completely. I have no stereo anyway.

 

That would be a cool mod. I never use my radio either. XM, CD's, and VCD's for me...

 

some where in that 10 page thread about antennas someone has actually shaved the antenna base and IMO i think it looks really bad it kind of ruins the look of the car..

uhhh, how's it ruin the look of the car? it looks IDENTICAL to the pass side of your car....unless you have one of the Rare "Bi-antennae'd" 350Z's...

The "mod" posted by the OP brings an old word back to life "HACK JOB". spend the 12 bucks instead of going to starbucks if you want a short antenna...finished product is much better w/ S2k and other antenna options.

 

How on earth can it ruin the look of the car? So basically you're saying the Z looks jacked up if you look at from the passenger side, regardless?

I think it looks pretty clean. I shaved the antenna on my old car. Totally destroyed the reception though. I got the tape ones and it still didn't work that great. But for the s2k antenna, I do no notice a difference in the reception. Even with the Monster cable fm transmitter hooked up to an ipod.

 

I hate to advertise for others but...Vivid Racing has a very cool short alumimum antenna. I paid $20 for it. No difference in reception.

LOL it was a joke man. Actually I would'nt care I have 13 s2k antennas and 5 Honda fit. I worked at southern California auto auction and every s2k I seen I took it off. its no ones car but the banks so I DGAF'ed about it at the time.

I put on an antenna from a Honda Element, and it seems that I'm actually getting better reception, than my OEM antenna.

 

while i was at the mall a while ago someone stole my acura rdx antenna that i had literally just bought 20 minutes before... now i always take my antenna off wherever i go
