I'm thinking about going this route too once my power mods are done, it looks nice, hopefully there will be more finishes by then. I like this Lexus ISF that was at the LA Autoshow, looks like the BATMOBILE.

How many more do you want? There's flat, semi, candy, metallic, and they are all matte based. That's a lot of choices.

if you look on the OTHER forum, you'll see that Josh painted his Z in a flat nearly a year ago. He went with the hotrod flatz gunsmoke metallic. it looks pretty wicked.

Okay, stupid noob question:

How do you care for this type of paint job? Do you wash/wax/polish like regular paint? That seems like it would defeat the purpose... but you have to take care of it... just curious.

P.S. Looks f***ing awesome. Looking forward to the finished pics.

if you go with a flat clear, you would treat it like every other paint job.

we have done some Matte black and there is no clear involved at all.

Wouldn't that also cut down on the life of the paint?

You would think that it does since there is no clear protecting it but Matte black paint we use is very very durable. It doesn't even get surface scratches. Only time will tell how long it will last down the road though.
