i tried searching, but didn't find anything. did anyone do a write up on how to take off the hatch with instructions on all the wiring?

Honestly, this is one of those things where if you can't figure out how to remove it just by taking a close look at all the connecting points, directions won't help you.

My guess? Remove the inner hatch finisher (connected only with push tabs) and disconnect harness/es. Unbolt hatch struts and finally, the hatch hinges. It is a 2-person job; you wouldn't want one side to wobble and bend the hinge when the other side is unbolted.

That is the gist of it. Be careful.

 

Usman is right. We just finished stripping out an 06 for racing. although I didn't remove the hatch, I didn't see anything that would make it difficult. There would be one eletrical connection for the center brake light but it's a quick-snap type that you can easily remove with a flathead screwdriver.

Do get help because it's not too light and it's too large to handle alone.
