drivers side glove box?

drivers side glove box?
i dont have the bose system so there is wasted storage space behind my seat.
I am assuming that the japanese version the sub is on the other side, so could i use the jap spec gove compartment behind my drivers seat?
OR, are the glove compartments symmetric, and i could use the passenger side one for the drivers side as well.
Can i buy this from any dealer? and what should i expect to pay?
