If i want to install a homelink rearview mirror into my 05 Base Z, does anyone know how hard this would be and how to do it? Also, does anyone have a thread or a guide showing how to put the mirror into a base Z?

 

A lot of the wiring harness is the same across models. Look in the space above the overhead lamps/sunglasses holder. You might find the mirror connector buried up there. In that case, all you would need is the Homelink mirror.

 

I think all the models have the same wiring harness, except the base model.

 

That may be true but I would check just in case. The FSM doesn't make distinctions for a lot of model specific stuff other than the Bose radio. Others have reported that the TCS/VDC harness and the steering wheel control harness is in place on a Base model even though the based doesn't include those functions.

Did this in my base. I got a wrecked Z's wiring plug wire + mirror and ran my own lines back to a power source.

If you bought a brand new Homelink w/ compass it should come with instructions. If not, you can probably still use those instruction to give you a jist of how to install it.

I just did this and unless you have a 2003-2005 AND the Gentex mirror THEY SELL, the instructions are WRONG.

Literally just did this... 4 hours no thanks to Courtesy.

 

i do have a 2005 and still am not sure how to install it.

 

I've installed the homelink mirror to my 06 base. There is no wire harness for mirror prewired for base z.
I think the only difference between 05 and 06 would be the location of the ignition power wire. Just take out your dead pedal and the panel next to it. Locate the light green wire (ignition power) and use the t-tap for connection. Run the wire through a-pillar->roof liner-> to your mirror. If you have more question, pm me.
