Default give me ideas.

Im just playin around with sidemarkers now, already have 3led, 15led, and now Im cookin up something new that I should be able to unveil tomarrow. but Im trying to think of even more stuff.

I want to come up with a way to do a more even light without using more LEDs, as LEDs are quite expensive. fiberoptic cable comes to mind, but lowes and home depot dont sell it. and I really just dont know where to find it.

any other things you guys would like to see done?

Well I've been waiting for this mod for a long time. How bout a sidemarker that lights up without the LEDS?

By using the same type of buld the corner signal uses, it can light up the entire sidemarker without the led dots.

I use to have the same configuration with my accord 94 ex. It had a stock rear sidemarker and I replaced the light bulb with the hyper white ones. Looks nice without the led dots. The entire sidemarker glows.

Just a thought.

hmmm, yeah thats possible. space is an issue in there, hence the need for small lighting source. but, I could think of a few ways to increase space.

Ill think about it.

my idea is get somekind of rubber diaphragm (spelling?) and fill with some kinda get. then use a few leds pointing into the get to illuminate the whole sidemarker evenly...give it a glowing type effect

Ares,

As for fiber optic plastic (needs to be very flexible), just look for it on google. While your at it, look for an LED - Fiber coupler. It is a small piece of plastic that takes a LED in one end and a fiber in the other. You then place the coupler and LED at the top of the lens and snake the fiber all about. You might not be able to bend the fiber 180 degrees in the given space, so you could use two.

Trust me, you can find anything on google.

i dont see how fiberoptics will work.. that is more direct than LEDs as far as emitting light

i still think my gel idea will work

Fiber optics will work fine and should be less messy than gel (however, I have not worked with gel). There are two kinds of fiber optics. The first is end-emitting that has a casing. It is designed to carry the light signal to the end of the strand. The other type is side emitting. The side emitting type can be one solid strand or a bunch of fine hairs within a clear PVC casing. You can also remove the casing so that the hairs can be spread out. If you spread them out within the reflector, then the light should be more even. Keep in mind that the reflector will assist in deflecting the light a little more. As for how to light it the fiber itself, I have a solution that I am working on.

I can do it... would need to make a new back peice possibly Im looking at some 30 strand 3/8th inch cable, with this, I think maybe 2-4 total strands flattened out would look good.

use a 10000mcd LED at 15degrees on each end of the strands should give bright even light.

first person that wants the first set gets it for cost of parts just like I did with the LED reflectors. PM if your interested.

i think thats how the Angel Eye conversion people do it is with a flexible tube with cuts in the rubber to get the refraction internally so they light up.

what about using an EL (aka indiglo) marker. heheh. that should be fairly cheap. but tacky looking.

Maybe some laser LEDs facing a crome reflector (instead of directly at the translucent outside of the side marker) would light it more evenly. If that won't work goto a good computer modding forum, those guys are bound to come up with the perfect solution.

yea.. here's the link to the DIY instructions for angel eyes. it seems easier for what you plan on using it for because you wont have to bend the plasting ring into a circular shape. it might be able to work. you be the judge..
