So I'm leaving for Orlando on Thursday (driving from nashville), and had a question about protecting my front bumper/hood/side mirrors. I was initially going to tow my car but plans fell through. Has anyone used blue painters tape to protect the bumper? Ive seen posts in the past, but was wondering if there is anything else I need to do. Can't put a bra on the front, due to the aftermarket bumper. Any suggestions/tips will be appreciated--drew

as long as your car doesn't see the sun, it should be good. A lot of ricers down here do this on darker colored cars in the sun and they ruin the clear coat on their cars.

Personally, I made the decision that I'm going to accept the facts the front bumper is going to get chipped up a bit when I drive on the highway. Worse things can happen, having my front bumper repainted and cleared if the chips get too bad isn't going to cost enough for me to try to justify going to such lengths.
I would like some better protection for the front of the hood though.

3m didn't have a clear bra for my V2 nose at the time, so my dealer custom made one for no extra charge (over a standard Z) Wouldn't be without the film, complete peace of mind

The blue painter's tape will be fine. It will not peel away your paint so don't let anyone scare you. Autocrossers use them all the time to display their numbers & class on the door panels.
If you don't want to use the painter's tape, you can spray clear coat to temporarily use to protect your bumper during your long distance travel. You can buy them at Autozone or Pep Boys.

+1 on the clear bra. also, if you head to a vinyl cutting place, you can get the release tape too. it is the stuff they put on top of the vinyl to hold the letters together, that you peel back off leaving the vinyl behind. you can get it up to 24"+ wide! it's exactly like masking tape, but the adhesive is pretty weak, and would come off no probs.

Nissan, BMW, Mercedes, it doesn't really matter what it is, some people love their cars and don't want to have to deal with things down the road, and want it always looking its best. A car is an investment.
If you can really blame him for that, I'd second guess yourself before second guessing him.

this is why i keep all my old parts or stock parts to throw them back on in times of need. .
say if you had your stock bumper.. it takes 10 minutes to throw it back on for the drive problem solved. . .

Then I don't see the need for an aftermarket bumper. Don't you want an aftermarket so your car looks good when people see you? Or just for when the car is sitting in the garage.
