Default WTF is this w/ pics!!!

Hey guys need help here from you gurus. I bought my Z from a dealership and it had this gadget with the key that i didnt pay any mind to thinking its an alarm system button. After getting the car i realized this thing is a proximity security device without having this attached to your key the car will not start. THe "identity" is actually a button when pressed lights up that exclamation mark on top of it with a red not sure what that does though. The FCC id in the back says QY7ADM62_(its faded after the 2)

I have a two part question....
1) what the hell is this
2) how to get another one or how to take it off the car so that the car starts without having it on my keys.

Any help or clue will be very appreciated since i have done plenty of google searches with no help since i have no idea what company even makes this and no its not identity.....

Sounds like maybe some kind of anti theft immobilizer device? I'm not sure why anyone would install something like that, as the key for the Z already has the feature built in via chip.

i dont know man its really retarded.

I found this on an ebay auction with the same looking remote.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/IDENT...QQcmdZViewItem

Also i dont have to press any buttons or anything with that remote. The only thing i need to do is have it physically with me when i want to start my car or move it around if i am sitting still in the car for the car to start up again otherwise when turning the key everything powers up except the car just doesnt start when i turn the ignition key all the way.

Its almost like they took the immobilizer device out from the key and placed it in there. But i have a standard 350z key.

Thats an awesome idea! Its just like the new corvettes/sentras/altimas and stuff, without the push-button ignition.

I wouldn't want someone elses installed on mine, but that seems like a neat feature to me.

An audio shop should be able to take that out fairly easily.

My old Integra had something similar installed in it when I bought it. Mine was this chip looking gadget that was on the keychain as well and I had to insert it into a slot in order to start the car. Once the car was started, I could remove the chip and put it back onto my keychain. I used one of those quick detach keychains for it.

Let's just say I used the remote starter a lot due to the long time it would take to start up the car. It's a neat little feature....until you lose your fob.

Not sure what that is... as stated before the immobilizer should be inside the key. You should ask the dealership about it.

my girlfriend's car has something like that. it's actually a good idea. if someone tries to steal your car, it can't be started without it. if it's a hassle to you - then more power to you.

Its a good idea and its not really a hassle just that like another poster said i am more concerned with me losing the keys and being SOL rather than someone stealing my car.

why not just tape it up inside the dash and be done with it if you don't want it?

It is just an aftermarket starter kill. Have it taken out. Does more harm than good. Should cost less than $50.00 to have it taken out.

want.Explain how you didnt realize
I have the same exact setup in my FX45. If you bring it back to the dealership and ask it to be removerd they should do it no problem. They sold you an item on the car that is not stock and that you dont want it. Tell them that you did not realize the importance or annoyance that the thing causes and need it removed ASAP> Any reputable dealer will... cheap any way if not free
