Default 06-07 floor mats into an 03-05

guys, just wondering is there a big difference in carpet quality between the mats and will the new style mats look right and fit correctly into an 03-05 model?

they won't fit correctly but they will fit good enough if you don't need them to be perfect.

I was told by that the older nismo mats and the newer mats have the same cut and fit.

As mentioned, it's a different style of carpet. The older ones are more plush, but supposedly show markings from shoes more easily and are harder to maintain. If you're spending money on OEM mats, might as well get some quality aftermarket ones. The nissan mats are kinda cheap.

The nismo mats are the same material as the '06+ and are cheaper than OEM. But again, the quality isn't that great.

The carpet hooks (sorry the technical name if there is one is evading my memory right now) on the older model cars 03-05 do not fit with the newer floor mats in such a way as they prevent them from laying perfectly flat. The only solution that I've found besides swapping to the 06-up carpet hooks (royal PITA btw) is to turn the carpet hooks around so that they are not being used.

They won't fit perfectly. The '03-'05 mats were changed to a newer type with the rubber heel guard on the drivers side. as pic below, I also show the '06 mat & my own innovative heel grid.

I'd roll with one of these mats. Much thicker and more durable than the OEM or Nismo mats.

I had to special order the NISMO floor mats(forgot to add these to my sig.YAY!) w/o the heel guard.

Couldn't find them anywhere locally, had to order the last set from an Ontario dealership. My dealership contacted tons of stores to find these & had to wait forever, hence the special order.

I dislike the way the heelguard makes the mat look. If anything, I'd get the Momo GRID T-200 floormats to go over the Nismo mats. They look sweet.

Or for something equallly as nice, the GRID GT-R:
