Default How to get power to my seats in a BASE Z

Hello everyone. Just thought I'd make a DIY.

EDIT: Hey got these seats to work!!! It was really easy just takes a long time! Here are some pics of the install. Just connect a few wires and it works!!!!

1. Remove seats
2. Remove shift ****
3. Then AC unit
4. Then Center Console (between seats) 4 screws
5. Remove trim piece near where bottom of the door closes (then other side)
6. Remove side panel under small side window
7. Remove other side
8. Remove entire back panel (where rear glove box is/power outlet)
9. Pop out power outlet for easy access
10. Run wires under carpet and make a whole near plug under the seat for a clean look!!!!!!
11. Connect wires as shown in pics. NO CUTTING NECESSARY
12 Power outlet should have four wires attached when done. (Pic was taken only after one seat was done)

BAM power seats in a base/enthusiast with out paying a ton for it

Did you find the plug? I believe the harnesses are mass produced, so the plug should be there somewhere. I may be wrong though. Even if the connector is there you may run into some problems with the computer though.

There is an extra plug under the seat that is not used on the non heated/power seats

I would have to look at it to determine the use of it ---I never payed attention to it

I think we need to run two wires. One from cigarette lighter (power) to the seat. Not sure what wire is power to the motor of the seat. Then one more wire from ground to the ground wire coming from the seats motor!! Can anyone tell me what wires these are coming out of the bottom of the seat??

What specifically do you want to know ----As far as Power seat movement, The drivers side has 4 mains (G) Green and (OR) Orange for the recline and (Y) Yellow and (SB) Sky Blue for the Slide.

The Pass has only (Y) and (SB) for slide

There will be a Black for a ground

So if I want to move in all four directions I need to run 4 wires to power and 1 to ground for the DRIVER seat. And 2 wires to power and 1 to ground for the PASSENGER seat?? seems like I'm almost ready to do this install

I just gave you the codes---what I would have to do is look at a powered Z and see if you are running the same loom. If not......get it, route it and mount it. Its just going to be, I would think, a plug in to the existing

This is your answer. You only need a power and a ground. You're making it more complicated than it is. Look at Dave's wiring and copy it. I don't believe I saw any extra wiring when I took out my seats to do this install... All there was, was the seatbelt clip. Maybe what your Eazzy is talking about is for airbags?

Yea I FINALLY GOT IT TO WORK! It was a huge pain but a fairly easy job. Just tap into power from the rear power outlet and run 4 wires, 2 to each seat and splice then into the cord shown in the link above. The hard part was stripping my car down to nothing so I could get to the power and run the wires nicely!

why not just tap into some wires in the dash or the fusebox to save yourself from removing so many interior pieces?

that does make more sense but I didn't want to screw around with anything important. I would be ok with loosing function ability of the outlet
