Default vented hoods: function or show?

With increased under hood temps with a blower, would a vented hood actually make a difference.

I know most people buy them bc they look cool, but do they actually cool? Any data?

Thanks!

I want the seibon TS hood so bad..........but i fear the fitment issues.

As long as theres a pressure difference, hot air will flow out of the vents. I run without the lower pan, dont know if that helps or not.

+1 on vented hood, I saw a diference in oil temp. about 5degrees, also run w/o a under panel and have a power enterprise oil pan that has ribs in it that helped allot. in summer my high after like 2 hours of driving is like 200 degrees >< lowered it 20 degrees

Mine is functional. I see heat pouring out of it after hard boosting.

For those of us who actively track our Z/G's, I can guaran-g-damn-tee that we'll notice if it reduces underhood temps, especially the F/I'ed trackers.

I have the CF Seibon Hood, vents are a good way to let the heat evaporate out of there. Heat rises - self answers the question of heat release. Air in front, heat out back, top, wherever there's a place to go. Jim@Showstoppers.com has multiple vented hoods. Also the guy that was on the forum with the templates to do the oem hoods, I remember, but he's been gone now for a pretty long time. He had a group of people do it at the time also, and showed pic's of the finished job, so that's another way to do it, if, I say if he can be found again. I could not locate the old thread, or I would have revived it and got it back up. I was going to do the same, but then got my CF hood, and am very happy with it.

sounds good. i just think that the fitment seems pretty variable. anyone that thinks a gap between the grill and hood looks ok is rationalizing a crappy purchase.

Vented hood will probably be on my to do list this summer.
