Default questions about painting roof black

so lately i've been thinking about roofs.. particularly mine.. particularly in black.
my z's an 06 ppw [mods are in profile if you're that interested] and i think it would look hella clean with a black roof. i just have no clue what goes into painting JUST the roof.
how much would something like that cost? high quality please.. nothing cheap that's going to flake/chip on me.
how long would the paint shop [or.. body shop? i've no idea] have to keep my car?

any ideas/suggestions are welcome

it would cost 250-300 to do it properly with paint and clear coat. It would take a two days if they worked on it as soon as you brought it in. This is the best way. I usually go against those who put vinyls on their roof because they get scratched and swirled badly and there is nothing you can do. Paint is must more durable against the sun and elements and can be buffed out if it gets scratched or swirled.

has anyone seen a ppw with a blacked out roof?
there's this one white 650i with its roof blacked out around here, and some nice deep dish not-too-blingy wheels.. it looks like sex.

It would look good and shouldn't cost that much. Though all white goes well with your white Volks.

I've seen a different PPW with white Volks before and after a CF hood. The stock white hood looked cleaner and matched better with the rims IMO.

For about $300-400 though, I think you're better off getting a Shine replica bumper of your choice. Overall it would make for a more noticeable improvement.

i don't want a body kit at all, i love the lines of the z as it is. and all aftermarket body kit pieces have fitment issues and sh*t like that DRIVES ME CRAZY.

and i'm not talking about changing the hood... i want to paint the roof.
i have a super dark limo tint on the back.. i think it would look hot if that blackness continued over to the windshield.

Yeah, I know you were talking about the roof, but I think all white body pieces look cleaner with your Volks. The black roof should look pretty good though.

i dunno there's a big difference in looks between a black roof and a cf hood, which i would NEVER do on a ppw.

Hey Naeiri, I know you mentioned you love the look because you saw it on a 650.

The 650's roof is carbon fiber which is why its black(not sure if you knew that are not).

Even though you don't like vinyls have you considered doing a carbon fiber roof overlay, and then having a body shop clear coat it. This way it looks more like the bmw 6 series and not just black paint? Thought i'd throw that out there for you to consider if you haven't already.

ummm no. unlike 99% of the people on this board, i strongly dislike the look of carbon fiber. and if i DID like cf i'd do the real thing, not overlays
thank you for the suggestion though.
