Exclamation Car Exterior Issues

Hello fellow Zers,

I just got a 05' Touring Le Mans Sunset about 3 weeks ago. I bought it used 3 weeks ago, but it was spotless. Now there are marks all over the front bumper and part of the hood. Some of the spots have changed to a darker color? Is that a result of dings or the paint is rusting? I am new so please bare with me if these are stupid questions? Also, there are white spots all over the front bumper. Is the paint fading and I'm seeing the primer? I wanted to put on a clear bra but I just got it and didn't have time. So, all this has happened in 3 weeks. Any advice? Is my car rusting (aka the darker spots)?

Thanks for you help. Much appreciated.

What happens if you try to clay bar or buff out the spots?

Does it look like the paint has been abused before and the seller tried to cover it up?

If not try the clay bar like the poster above said

you sound like me, i was simply the dealer using fillers in the paint, and now they are wearing away.....sadly i have an 03 superblack, as long as it doesnt rain, the wax keeps it covered pretty good.

Yea, it is not visible unless u get closer....I just went to a Nissan Dealer and they quoted $1200 to repaint the hood/bumper. Does that sound about right?

Hell no, take it to a respectable shop and they will charge about $250-300 per panel.

Don't go to some $50 / panel place either. It will just look terrible... but yeah, $1200 is way too much. You can get the entire car painted piece by piece for $4k'ish.

Since I just got it 3 weeks ago, should I go to the dealer to tell them to fix it since it was their touch-up paint that came off?

never hurts to try but be prepared for them not to do anything about it.

The Z seems to take a lot of road damage upfront from normal driving. I imagine they tried to touch it up enough to get it out the door.

1200 is too much for sure. I would shop around if you want it fixed but get a quality place to do the repairs.

Need those to see what you're talking about. A glaze or filler-based wax will cover up swirls but not what you're describing, so I doubt the dealership concealed it somehow. I will reserve final judgement until after seeing the pics.
