Default Trunk Scanners

So I just scored myself a police trunk scanner. I have no idea how to use it, and the directions are terribly obtuse, but I'm going to see if I can't take it somewhere to have it programmed. I was curious to see if anyone else on here uses scanners?

You should be able to take it to a motorola shop or dealer. Usually they are in your bigger cities. This is where a lot of the emergency services take their radios for installs and programing.. Which brand??

Don't get caught with it installed in your car without checking state law.

Scanners are not illegal in most states. These scanners can be used to monitor not only police, but fire, ems, county / metro services etc.. It depends on if you got a UHF / VHF scanner..

I think this is what you are talking about??

Is it a hand held unit and how many channels does it have?

The whole idea is that I don't get caught at all. As far as I know, scanners are only illegal if they are used in the commission of a felony.

haha..Shawshank Redemption if im not mistaken.. You should be able to take this to anyone that programs scanners and they can put in the frequencies that you want, i.e. police fire ems etc...you are correct, scanners are only illegal when used in the course of a felony
