Default Fat Boy Seats

Any recommendations for an aftermarket reclining seat for a 5'10"/220 lb driver? I've been looking at Bride, Sparco, etc. and most of these seats are designed for really thin guys.

I like the Sparco Torino II's and the vendor I'm thinking of buying the seats from recommended this particular seat but the dimensions on the Sparco size chart don't look very generous.

Thank you

If you really like the OEM seats, I don't think you'll find an aggressive "racing seat" that will 1. fit you as well or 2. be as comfortable... Just my $.02.

With that said, I am 6' about 190-ish... I have a set of Recaro Speed 'S' seats and I am very happy with them. If you decide that you want to do aftermarket seats, I would recommend something with a low lateral side bolster like these (or maybe some Bride XAX II's) not only for the extra leg room/limited restriction, but for ease of entry and exit also.

I have a few pictures of them in different threads on these boards. Here are a couple links:

Also, I just noticed that you're in Rhode Island. I am not too far if you'd like to make a trip to MA, you're more than welcome to sit in mine to see if you like them...

I started out just looking at replacing the OE cloth seats in leather, red and black to match the theme of my car. A leather cover job runs $1000, so I decided to explore new aftermarket seats to see what was available. As I started looking at some of the various offerings, the excitement level grew and now I'm in the market for new seats.

One problem....Most of the seats offered are built for 34"/36" waist drivers. The Recaro Speed S is a nice seat, however doesn't appear to be offered in red.....

If you have diffuculty getting out of the stock seats now, you will HATE getting out of Sparco Torino 2's. I do a special move to get out and try not to wear out the fabric and side bolsters. I am 5'9, 170 lbs and it feels like they were designed for me. This is the widest of Sparco seats except maybe the Monza....there are some WAAYYYY smaller. Go to a racing equipment shop and sit in one before you buy.

Oh and PS, getting in/out the passenger side with these Torino 2's is much easier than the driver side...go figure?

I've got 50 pounds on you, so if they feel good to you, I'm going to feel like I'm sitting on top of a paint can. Not good.....

if you want red and black to match the theme of your car look into finding some OEM seats out of the Nismo Z's...

they are the exact same seat as in all the Z's but they are made special in the red and black theme for the nismo Z's.

Corbeau CR1 in the wide version will fit you. if you want a more relaxed seat, the corbeau LG1 in the wide version is decent as well. otherwise spend big money on cobra misanos

Go sit in one and decide for yourself! There should be a race shop that carries them around you

We have plenty of race shops in the area, but nobody inventories seats. The item is too expensive, so I'm going to need to make this purchase on blind faith.

I'd suggest some Bride Gias.........

On a serious note, the only Bride seats that would work with your body size would be the XAX II, in terms of thighs and ease of exit. Not sure about the shoulder and waist area though.

You best bet would probably be the Corbeau's though.

You can easily find seats that will fit you but the trick is to find seats that will also fit in the car and don't hit the door panels.

I'm looking into Corbeau A4's in the wide version which can hold 40" waist. The outer width dimension is the same as stock About 20"'s.

I read a classified thread saying that the new Sparco Chronos are some of the widest recliners in their lineup. They are quite the sexy:

https://my350z.com/forum/showthread.php?t=331966

Only issue will be if you plan to run 5/6pt harnesses. I dont see any slot for the anti-sub straps.

If you are even close to a 40" waste those will not work for you. I am a 36" and the wide version is much too tight to be comfortable. If you have any size through your shoulders, the A4's become even less comfortable. The CR1 is a much better option. I have had the opportunity to sit in nearly every corbeau seat

I've been talking to a number of vendors and the Corbeau CR1 seems to be the best alternative at this time. I need to measure to make sure the 22" wide base and 23" width at the shoulders doesn't present any problems. I'm being told that the extra width can result in interior rubbing issues.

If anyone out there has installed Corbeau CR1 (wide version) in their 350z, please feel free to comment.

Everyone, thanks for the help.
