Default Airbag sensor

I have a 06 silver base model Z,under the passenger seat there is a sensor that actvates the air bag sensor when a person sits on it and I guess it is triggerd by weight. when it is not on there is a indicator light that comes on.Any way I guess the purpose of this weight sensor is so it will not activate the airbag if you have a car seat in the seat because it can kill a child. The problem is my girlfriend is petite (106 pounds) and if she does not sit directly in the center of the seat when she first sits in the car the air bag will not activate then I have to cut the car off get her reposition herself then it cuts on.Has anyone else had this problem?

No, but they do it by weight because regardless of age, if your girlfriend weighs that little the airbag probably shouldn't deploy. Except, I think that the weight cutoff for the sensor is 70 pounds, so that is weird. Maybe take it by Nissan and ask them?

It only happens on occasion but it only happens with her,she is the smallest person that ever rides in my car.I'm positve it happens because sometimes when she gets in the car she is not centering her weight in the middle of the seat and it only happends to her because she is so light.

i had this problem, take it to nissan. Basically they told me that the sensor sticks sometimes causing it to light up spontaneously. Mine was covered under warranty.
