more than you can afford, pal.

no seriously, it depends alot on how its done, macco will do it for a few hundred, itll also look horrible. or you could go opposite and get that prism color changing paint and that can cost 10,000 or more. their coming up with a new paint, that changes color depending on the voltage you apply through the body panels, how cool is that?

so Id say 6000 for a standard paint job that would be equal or better than stock. they have to take off more or less all the body panels to do it right, strip them, prime, paint, clear coat, sand, maybe clear coat again.

and be warned if anyone can tell its been painted your resale goes into the gutter. thats why I think its important to remove the body panels and do it, but even then, your engine bay will always be the color your car started as, so people will know.

I'm just kicking around ideas in my head, trying to decide exacly where I want this car to be in the next few years.

I don't think resale value will be a big factor for me in "modding" this car. Even when I get married, I'll just buy some beater of a familiy car and keep this one for me.

I know....I know. but its great to dream.

In california, the body shop that had repainted my 300zx tt quoted me 2000 to strip and paint my 240z. The 300 had yellow paint, someone had keyed it on the previous owner, and the dealers bodyshop couldnt paint match. This shop removed all trim, decals, etc, prepped the car (only requires wet-sanding, not stripping, actually stripping is recommended against unless you have several layers like my 240 had), and repainted much better than factory. That paint job was $3500, and was a 3 stage paint, with color coat, pearl coat and clear coat.

I would say 2500-3500 for a great paint job.
