when you say "this thing" i assume you mean the actual lamp assembly? you can bake it with what you have pictured. i'm not sure how you would get that out without baking anyhow.
Good luck dude.
Also check the painting headlights thread in the interior/exterior diy... lots of great info. Be sure to SEAL those lights as well as possible. You don't want water leaking down into the ballast.

I had my best luck at the "front" corner of the headlight. Just hold it upright and give it a good push/pull with both hands and eventually it will start to pry apart.
The sooner you get it out of the oven and start prying the better. As that silicone starts to get cool again it will be impossible to open the light. Bake it for 5 minutes, pull it apart some, bake it again, pull apart more, etc. You may need to use some kind of cloth or something since the plastic your hands are against will be hot.
You can also use the mounting points on the headlight for leverage. The "back/bottom" part of the headlight will bend as you pull it apart. This is ok, but try not to bend it too much. You will be able to hear the hardware inside shifting if you're pulling too hard.

You can cut them apart...carefully, and reglue them later. You could just mask them if you're real patient, but you still need to sand and prep the area if you want the paint to stay on.
Yayyy i finished they look bad ***
But i scratched one on accident
Im gonna wait overnight for the paint to cure then layer over the scratch again till it looks a little even.
