Not only is it possible, many members here have done the it including the Editor-in-Chief of Nissan Sport magazine. There is an article on it in the current issue. You will NOT be able to re-install the 03-04 factory stereo with the new center dash trim, though; must go with the newer stereo or an aftermarket one. Door panels will fit too.

Some pics.
As soon as I am healthy enough, I will take it all off to change to OEM MP3 stereo and install the steering wheel audio controls....among other stuff.

There had been a steering wheel audio control thread here for a while.
This was available in the British versions and some people adapted the infiniti.. even though the color was off.
I remember the part number was listed too.

The 3 gauge cluster plugs right in..
The radio plugs in..get the new one.
You need a new amp. That plugs in fine to the harness.
I need to mod the center console harness for the light and seat heat switches. My car was a track.
I am kinda old now and want heat for my back and I want a power seatback for the passenger seat too.
I have not got to that yet. [Working slowly on the G coupe]
Same for the door light.
I do have an extra 2006 radio and 2006 shifter surround assembly I may sell.
I was about to modify the 2006 G coupe 6 speed console so I can use the handrest..but I got the Z oem console instead.

I know this thread is way old.. But hopefully someone will come back across it. But correct me if I'm wrong... But I have an '03 Enthusiast model and I just bought a new Pioneer dd headunit. I want to swap out the center console for the '06+ model. But you're saying the gauges and radio will plug in just fine? What will I have to do in order to get the HVAC controls to work properly.. And this could be somewhat of a dumb question.. haha But I haven't figured out the warning light button.. It's in a different place. How would I go about that? Thanks again in advance.
