in the factory the car is painted with no other parts on the car. its just the metal, so after the car gets painted it goes into a big ole easy bake oven with the temp cranked way up. but in a shop its the same type process, except most of the time the car is somewhat a finished prodouct(has tires, interior, drivetrain, engine, etc) and there for they cant turn the heat up as much

First off, its not entirely fair to base an opinion on any of these shops merely because of the response they gave you about repainting your front bumper. Secondly though, one hour isn't a far drive to have some paint work done IMO. Drive there, take your bumper off, drive home bumperless. No biggie.
Post up in the regional section for Dallas-area shops.

(Silver Stone) I have had my front bumper and RF fender painted due to small accident. The body shop didn't use an oz of bondo. (Good on them)
Two observations and a question:
O1: The color of the plastic bumper is slightly lighter then the metal fenders.
O2: AAAAHHH!!! 10 Million chips in 1/2 a year of non-highway driving.
Q: What is the difference between the factory painting process and the bodyshop painting process and how could that so drastically effect the durability of the paint job?
