i think i found that turning off the AC a bit before turning off the car helps it not to smell when i turn on the car next time.

the reason for it smelling musty is when you run your ac it creates moisture in the vents and when it dries it makes that smell when you turn the ac back on, so right before you get to your destination turn your ac to heat to dry out the vents and it shouldnt smell anymore.

is it a moldy/mildew smell?

i read that lysol sprayed into the vents with the ac on full blast gets rid of the smell for a little while. or turning off the ac for the last 5 minutes when you are driving the car so that the ac condensation evaporates before you turn the car off.

When the car is parked and the A/C is on, are you seeing water dripping from the front right side of the car? That should be the drain from the evaporator. If you see little or nothing draining, it could be clogged. That would leave water in the evap unit which could get a buildup of mold/mildew or stale water causing the smell in the car.

^^^ Actually, there's no filter there. Just the vent intake... You can see right down into the fan blades.

Beg all you want - it doesn't change the fact that the Z does not have a cabin air filter.

if you try and say "the dealer said it is there" we will still tell you they are wrong. if you got your car serviced and they charged you for replacing it, you got ripped a few dollars since there is nothing to replace

um, only if you are a girl. plus that might not be a good idea because that stuff (as with cologne) is very thick and when it dries, it builds up and over time will begin to stink.
