Default Console scratches from in-dash install. Easiest fix?

When I installed my pioneer in-dash, I seemed to have scratched up the piece in between the cup holders and shift housing. What is the best way to fix this? I have seem people painting their interiors, would that work?
Thanks in advance.

here is what it looks like:

It looks like it's just that small panel. I don't have an 06+ so I'm not sure, but does that little piece come out? If it does I'd say the best fix would be to look around junkyards and/or online for a replacement, and if you can't find anything I can't imagine even the stealership would rip you off that much for that little piece.

If more than just that little rectangular piece is scratched up, I could probably only say that you could have custom work done (sanded and painted, or covered in a material) or replace it. I'm not aware of any product that will simply remove the scratches from interior plastics.

yeah, it is only that little piece. I'll call the dealership tomorrow and see if they sell it by itself.

if your cheap and dont want to buy another piece, just sand it down with say 800? or higher, until the deep scratches are gone, and clear coat it.
