Good you figured out how to remove them but actually there's absolutely no need to remove any of the headlight "insides". The moderate heat and duration they are in the oven has no effect on them. Removing the bulbs, ballast, and the main HID cable is all that is needed.

There was no way for me to remove that hi/low beam switch so instead I covered it with thick leather gardening gloves on both sides and sealed it. I baked it for 8 min @ 250 degrees and voila. It's actually easier than the 03-05 because it has less removable parts and you don't really have to mask off anything to paint

didnt need to remove anything. the amount of heat used to loosen the rubber is not enough to heat other parts up to a melting point.

but glad you had to working out for you.
