How to keep shift boot up??
I have an aftermarket shift ****. It's a small titanium ball that is threaded so it screws directly onto the shifter with no tools.
Since it's a small ball that's much smaller than the OEM shifter, there is quite a lot of space between the bottom of the shift **** and the shift boot (or whatever the pseudo leather material is called).
If you guys have any advice, please me know. Thx.

most people just buy a nismo shift **** cuz it comes with this little rubber stopper that udelizes the gap but i believe you can pick one up at the local hardware store. Check the shift **** thread
Here is what I used just today, you can get it at any hardware shop, or Home Depot. The washer I got is from Fluidmaster, Ballcock Shank Washer

No way I would use something called a ball-**** on my car. Actually I did use one at first but then came up with a better solution. This is what I did. Thank God for copy and paste.
Simple solution for those with toilet finshers that don't like them.
This trick works with the stock shift boot. Probably works with an aftermarket boots just the same.
Screw your **** on a determine how much gap you have left that you need to get rid of.
Go to the hardware store and get some 3/4" rubber washers, the kind that look like fender washers, that have a whole big enough to slide over the non threaded part of the shift lever. Remove the plastic part of the shift piece that the factory boot is attached too. Get 2 or 3 extra washers to, to fine tune it perfect.
Slide on the number of washers you will need to elimnate the gap. The rubber washers will prevent the boot from sliding down the lever.
Then just pop the shifter cover/boot back into place and screw the **** on. You might notice at the top of the factory boot a tiny flap of leather at the hole. You can just tuck that flap into the boot hole when you slide the boot down the shift lever or just carefully trim it off flush with the top. Although it shouldn't be in the way anyhow.
Simple.
Depending on the size of the base of your **** the toilet thing might look better.

Thanks for your responses.
I have a question that will reveal how technically incapable I am:
How do you take the shift boot off? I get that I have to put a washer (or ballcock hahaa) to hold the shiftboot up, so how do I get it under the shift boot?
Thanks for the help.
