Default Hmm..gold detailing...

So...I have been asking everyones opinion here for the last few days on a 2003 350z I was considering. Decided to buy it IF it runs and checks out mechanically well, test driving it later today actually.

So anyways, im trying to jump on this cause im just now starting to realize how unique Brickyard is and I dont want someone else to scoop this car up before I get my hands on, but it has the Z decals done in gold.

Now IF I end up buying this car I will post some pics but with a color like BY I think alot of people will be surprised at how sick the gold on BY looks....emblems in gold with that dark redish/maroon color make it look like a fancy high end model...one problem.

Being that my emblems are in gold, I feel that any other customizing..rims, grill, etc. Should be in gold to match...im OCD and cant stand when things arent symmetrical and matching. But at the same time gold rims sound somewhat ugly to me....ok...pretty ugly actually.

So...is it possible to take to a dealership and have emblems replaced with stock chrome ones, or...slap on gold rims and see how it turns out?

Go on EBAY and get replacements. Gold on a red Z if not done right looks like a McDonalds spokescar. I personally would slap blacked out badges and get black rims.

It'll set off a complete scheme if you go carbon fiber, etc.

Holy crap, don't put on gold rims unless you are a pimp or you're looking to be car-jacked.

The emblems can definately be changed. The same way they took off the original silver ones and put on the gold ones. I don't think any Z came with gold. I beleive it was a dealer option. I think the Nissan logo emblems (front and rear) and 350Z script have two pegs on the back that push into some retainer clips. They should just pry off (carefully). Are the round Z logos on the side gold too? I'm not sure how those are mounted.

Any dealer or bodyshop can swap them out and you might can do it yourself. If you do it yourself, get the new emblems (or good used ones) first so you can see for yourself how they mount. Then you'll be less likely to mess up the car getting the old ones off.

Slap some hydraulics on it and some curb feelers with those gold rims and call it a day

Aye, im thinking this all makes sense. Test drove the car today and everything seems intact, mechanic says no alignment or tranny problems, so ima prolly be driving a Z by next week I hope.

As for the gold detailing...told me today that he knew the guy that worked out at our local Nissan dealership so he actually paid him to come to his house and do the custom decals. The Z on the steering wheel and the Z on back sway bar are also gold. The outside decals are 24k wrapped. Dont misread that though, doesnt make em worth a ton, just a super thin gold coating is what I assume but I dont know much of anything about this stuff. Im as new to having a nice car and actually looking into engines, body work, etc as a toddler to potty training...so..

Seeing as I dont believe there is much I can do about the Z's on the inside im either going to change the exterior ones and leave the inside as is, or leave em all gold and put chrome rims on anyways.

When I pick the car up I will try to post some pics but it wont be for a good week or two im sure, Ill bump this thread with the pics when I can.

Thanks again for all your input though, first time I can actually stand with a group of guys and talk about a car and know what the hell is being said. Ive learned alot already from this site.

Huh...theres an idea...shave it you say?

Well...since the Z's inside are gold also id hate to do exterior chrome and have it mismatch the interior...whats the take on losing all exterior emblems?

Does this actually look pretty sharp?

Seems to be a simple easy way to go but whats left underneath when you pop off a emblem. Anything real noticeable? Id rather not make it into a detail job where I gotta get some paint and what not to cover where some inserts mighta been?

Please bare with me here, that might sound stupid but I buy and drive as is, first time with a nice enough car to invest in modifications. Not really sure how those emblems are set on a car ( small pin holes where they snap in?? )

Btw, everything went smooth, picking my Z up tomorrow morning actually....
