What year is your Z? It may just be that a normal halogen bulb is not bright enough. I bought 06 OEM tails to resolve this problem. As far as I know though, the VHT is advertised as a translucent paint meaning light should travel through it fine..but who knows maybe the 3 coats you applied were to thick? Anyways I would suggest buying the 06 tails if you havn't already, only like 400 shipped from thenismoshop.com

with nite shades 4 or 5 SUPER light coats is perfect. 3 heavy or medium coats will come out too dark. there is nothing you can do now but buy new tail lights and try again. i've done about 20 cars with nite shades, PM me if you have questions.

What he said. That works good, but your gunna b going it for a few hours...you have 6 coats to work through. I had 5 and it took me 3 hours with 400 grit. What you should do is when your doing it again, do one coat, let toally dry, test light....do another...repeat until ALMOST too dark, wet sand a bit, clear, buff w/e and be done
