Metallic vs Non-Metallic Window Film Tint
Hello,
I went to a window tint place yesterday for my G35 and was offered two types of tint, one was metallic based film and the other was non-metallic. There was a big price difference (non-metallic $69, metalllic $140-$160).
Does anyone know the difference between the two and how effective it is. I don't have much experience with window tints.
The guy at the car shop told me he uses this brand/company:
www.solargard.com
Thanks.

easy, one has metal in it, the other doesn't. plus you already pointed out the main difference. regular tint will do you just fine. sounds like the guy there is just trying to make a sale IMO
I was looking for a response from other people that have experience with both, or if you can actually tell a big difference in the two. I know both should work fine, but is the metallic one a signifcant improvement in blocking off solar heat/energy?

I don't care for the appearance of the metallic tint - the several I've seen (friends) have a slight copper-ish mirror-like sheen to them (not like the solid mirror-type finish, but a slight mirror appearance at certain angles). It apparently gives a better sun-blocking ability. I like the plain-old non-metallic smoke tint.
I don't like metallic, because it gives a somewhat reflective grayish color.
I opted for non-metallic because it gave the best black look.
I use SolarGard film for the tinting I do. Good stuff.

I have Metallic tint on my car, and even though I have no experience doing this myself, or comparing the 2 tints, I like my metallic. It goes good with my Interlagos fire, because, like someone said, it gives off a bit of a copper color.
I could however, go with something a bit darker...

Not much of a difference one looks like a mirror finish and the other is black. Depends on the look you want. I like Lumar tint they have what is called a platinum tint which i wanted for my car. I like the look with the silver alloy paint better than dark black IMO.
Ok I ended up getting the metallic tint. It was from Solar Gard (www.solargard.com). I paid a little more but so far it does its job pretty well. Thanks for the inputs.
