I didn't do my door handles yet, but from what I've read, yes sand down and prep for paint. Not sure about product. Do some searching, theres quite a few threads on those details...

i just did my door handles 2 weeks ago, sanded down with 600grit, cleaned with alcohol, 2 coats of adhesive promoter, 3 coats of krylon fusion plastic paint, and 2 coats of clear coat. looks pretty decent, i have an 03 superblack, should have came black from factory to begin with, i let them dry 4 or 5 days before putting them back on so i hope you have a beater to get around

here is a before/after to give you an idea, good luck

yeah cause it took at least a week for the paint to actually harden, i was told i made a mistake by not letting the paint cure first then apply clear coat but oh well, i have plenty left over if it messes up.

jray8 ---- That looks really good man. Do you have any close up pics? Is there any orange peel? Just curious, I'd like to try this on mine.

these are cell phone pics so they probably don't help much, i forgot to mention that you can drive your Z without the handles, just looks pretty weird. just hold the key in the lock to roll the windows down(forget which direction at the moment) and unlock and hop in. good luck, post some pics when you get finished.

Solid pics man. I am planning on doing this as well on my DB Z. Black wheels/lights. The silver handles are really sticking out.
