There is a little spacer between the shift **** and the shaft that's about 1/4 of an inch. Take it out.

everyone on this site is pretty much in agreeance that this is one of the worthless mods for the 350Z, save the 150 bucks, and put it towards something that is proven in the Z, an intake, plenum, pully's, something like this! stay away from the shifters

Most short shifters are garbage IMO, they change the original design of the factory unit therefor reducing its durability. A close friend of mine purchased one of those $100 name brand units and it fell apart within a couple of months.

I had just about given up hope for this until I stumbled upon the revo technica short shifter for the 350z. It used the same factory design, made out of pure stainless steel and comes with a lifetime warranty. It gave me a 40% shorter throw with the same feel of the stock unit. I have been using it for about 2 1/2 years with zero issues. I highly recommend it.

I bought it when it was first introduced on the market for a ridiculous price, I think like $30-40 but I doubt it can be had anywhere near that right now.

Here is the link if your interested:

I can actually say that I have the B&M short shifter, even though I have read some negative feedback on the product, I have mine for almost three years and I love it. It has a more direct postive shift, and it is almost impossible to miss a shift. I did have a little rattle in the first coule months, but that went away quickly. I have driven numerous stock Z's , and I can tell the difference everytime.

I removed the little 1/4 inch spacer, doesn't really help you shift faster but looks cool! lol Save your money, not worth it.

Not sure about the Z, but I had the B&M in my Eclipse back in the day and I loved it. Try to find someone in your area that has one and test drive it yourself. Everyone has different tastes, so don't base your opinion on other people.
