Default I found a shop for targa tops

Hey guys,

I've been thinking about doing the targa top on my z since I saw the photochoped pics posted on the this site. I contacted Newport convertible engineering and asked if they would do it. They quoted me $7900 initially and after talking to the manager ( his name is Matthew) he said he would do it for $5900. I told him about this site and that eight grands were too much for a young Z owner. He seemed to want to work with me and said any one interested from this site that calls and mentions that he is refered by me can get the $5900 price. I still don't know if we can work somthing out like a group buy for less price. Anyway, check their website. They did a convertible Z and it looks much better than the stock Z convertible.

Let me know your opinion and whether you are interested.

Tamer

You are going to absolutely destroy the structural integrity of your Z!

Don't do it!

Besides, I wouldn't deal with a complete stranger if I was attempting this drastic of a mod to my Z...

Think of what happens if it goes bad...

Think of your resale value...

The Z roadster is designed to be topless, but I doubt the coupe would be able to survive to many years without the roof structure intact.

I remember Newport convertibles. They did the 550 Maranello before Ferrari offered the limited Barchetta. Top notch company from what i hear. Good luck if you do decide to go targa.

The factory convertible looks better with the top down but i think Newport's look a helluva lot better than the factory when the top is up. Judging by Newport's other work, i'm sure they can do a hard cover like the factory's.

do it if thats what you wanna sink 6k into. as to destroying structural integrity, don't you think, being a custom convertible maker, that the shop knows this? they will do plenty to ensure you maintain rigidity...

personally I would take 6k, get a nice coilover setup, nice rims/tires, and a stereo upgrade...
