I mounted my V1 over the shoulder with the remote display above the rear view on the drivers side, and the remote power/volume control in the sliding door cubby in the console. So far I love it, a lot of stealth and picks up radar just fine.

Purchased a passport hard wiring kit and rear view mirror mount someone on here was making a while back.

Ran my lines above the headliner and behind the pillar down to the fuse panel then mounted my controls inside the coin tray.

To be in that location its still pretty stealth to be honest, most people don't even know its there.

what would be the best radar unit set up for an 04 if you wanted it to be stealthy yet reliable? they are legal in my state, but I worry that a lot of cops treat people that have them a bit unfairly in some scenarios.

My contribution - K40 front and rear radar detector and laser diffuser (sensors mounted in front grill and on top of the rear bumper support underneath the bumper skin).

I'm wondering why you just didnt plug it into the outlet in the front in the meantime. I mean there is a small cover on it, so you have to flip that open, but dang, do people really not know about that one?

Thats where I have mine plugged in until I get a hardwire kit

I mount mine right below the mirror and I cut up a telephone cord. The RJ-35 connector is the right size for an Escort 8500. I added a circuit to the fusebox and ran a wire up the A pillar, across the headliner, and into the unit. Looks very clean, no pics though.

The 03's only have 1, not sure what year they added the 2nd one. I met up with another Z guy over the weekend. He was picking out all the little differences between his 03 and my 05.

Yeah it sucks but I got the invisi cord coming which connects right to the power of the rear view mirror.
